•Heart sounds: brief sounds produced by valve opening and closure, divided into systolic and diastolic sounds.
•Murmurs: more prolonged sounds produced by blood flow turbulence, graded by intensity (scale 1 to 6), described by their location and timing within the cardiac cycle.
•Rubs: high-pitched, scratchy sounds often with 2-3 components, may be almost continuous during tachycardia
•Auscultation allows diagnosing cardiac conditions by looking on timing, intensity, and location of the heart sounds in a phonocardiogram.
